Job Description

About Kinetic

Kinetic Automation is pioneering the development of a network of automated repair centers tailored for modern vehicles. Our mission is to establish Kinetic as the premier infrastructure-as-a-service provider by servicing vehicles through our robotic repair centers, fueled by our cutting-edge software and AI technology. We specialize in delivering precise calibration service to ensure the utmost performance and safety of vehicle Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Our unwavering dedication to innovation and client satisfaction has solidified Kinetic Automation as the trusted partner for automotive manufacturers, collision centers, dealerships, and service centers.

About the role

You’ll build both customer visible and internal web applications to support our business. These will include customer facing SaaS and AI products, APIs for our robotic calibration system, as well as internal tools like order management, dashboards, and billing. You’ll also have responsibility for internal infrastructure to support other teams. This will include database schemas, deployments on AWS, automated testing tools, logging, monitoring, and CI/CD.

Kinetic is building a cloud platform to centralize data from across our business, and host applications which use that data. You’ll be critical to that effort. This role will have a wide set of responsibilities, and we’re looking for a senior contributor with the breadth and depth of experience to lay solid foundations for future dev work.

We value simplicity, reliability, rapid iteration, and shipping applications that work. We use mature, well tested tools and eschew flashy web dev trends whenever possible. You’ll help build our systems to support mission critical work, while being easy to maintain, scale, and develop.

This is an in person role. We’ve found in person communication to be critical to our development velocity and business success. We also believe that spending time around brilliant coworkers and cool robots is one of the biggest perks of working at Kinetic :)

Skills & Experience Required

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related field
  • 3+ years of professional full stack development experience
  • Expert level knowledge of Python, HTML, CSS, JS, and SQL
  • Experience with relational database schema design
  • Experience with devops tasks like AWS deployments, log analysis, etc.
  • Professional experience with Django
  • Ability to work in person in Oakland, CA

Key Traits

  • Ability to wear many hats: versatility, adaptability, and a willingness to tackle varied challenges head on
  • Ability to thrive in uncertainty and bring structure to unstructured problems
  • Extremely high intellectual curiosity and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Likes the idea of fast iteration cycles for deep-tech products with direct customer feedback
  • Enjoys mentoring colleagues that need help to succeed in their roles
  • Loves robots

Benefits

  • Competitive salary & equity
  • Comprehensive coverage, including: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Flexible and paid holidays
