Job Description

Lighthouse Lab Services is representing a growing and reputable healthcare organization seeking a Laboratory Manager to lead operations within its Anatomic Pathology (AP) division. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven lab professional with a strong operational mindset and leadership experience to make a lasting impact.

Position Summary:

As the Laboratory Manager, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations, optimizing workflows, guiding team performance, and ensuring full regulatory compliance across a multi-site AP practice. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and physician stakeholders to develop and execute strategic initiatives that support patient care, business growth, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Operations
  • Direct daily laboratory operations, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, efficient services

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff, including hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and conflict resolution

  • Conduct team meetings and ensure staff meet all training, certification, and licensure requirements

  • Standardize workflows and implement policies that support safety, consistency, and compliance

Strategic & Financial Management
  • Collaborate with leadership to define and implement long-term strategic plans

  • Monitor and manage budget performance, including expense controls, AR, and DSO metrics

  • Identify and support opportunities for growth, service expansion, and client engagement

  • Partner with billing, IT, and operations teams to resolve inefficiencies and improve processes

Quality, Compliance & Reporting
  • Ensure laboratory operations adhere to CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements

  • Oversee quality assurance programs, productivity tracking, and internal audits

  • Manage lab procurement, vendor relations, and equipment maintenance

  • Lead change initiatives such as new test implementation or facility improvements

Qualifications:

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business, or Life Sciences required; MBA, MHA, or related advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a clinical or pathology laboratory setting

  • At least 1 year of supervisory or team lead experience in a lab environment

Licensure & Skills
  • Comprehensive understanding of lab operations and regulatory standards (CAP, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA)

  • Proven track record in managing staff, driving performance, and implementing strategic initiatives

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including budget management and reporting

  • Effective communicator and collaborator with a proactive leadership style
